Ships Passing In The Night - For some reason Ships Lounge had not been open for three days, and after repeated unanswered knocks on the owners apartment above the bar the police were called. Upon opening the apartment, the police found the owner Jack Prewett and longtime girlfriend/waitress Lanore Straubing laying in bed. Jack died from stab wounds and Lanore was shot. A suicide note was found but the contents was not released to the press. May 13, 1979. Ships Lounge is still open and is one of the oldest bars in Dallas.
