Mule Team In The Sky - Drilling the well behind the Cambell Hotel required a forty foot wood tower, stacks of steel pipe and a one tun steam boiler. When the drill bit hit stone the boiler was stoked to do some heavy drilling. The workmen then focused on feeding pipe into the shaft. Hearing a pop they turned in time to see the back of the boiler explode. The escaping steam raised the boiler off the ground, sending it down the alley like a rocket, crashing through the wood tower, then striking a mule team crossing on Harwood street. Finally stopping when it hit the store front of Loudermilk's Undertaking Parlor. July 19,1911 @ 11:30am. 159 N. Harwood st. Dallas TX.
