The Santos Rodriguez Tragedy - I post this drawing and story with the deepest sympathy and respect to the Rodriguez family. On July 23, 1973 at 2:10am the police car returned to the Fina Gas Station. In the backseat were two hispanic boys handcuffed together: Santos 13 and David 15. They were pulled from their beds by officers Arnold and Cain as suspects in the burglary of the gas station. This stop was meant to shake the boys up, to get them to confess. Officer Arnold emptied the shells from his gun, pointed the gun at Santos's head, asked for a confession, pulled the trigger, Click. Both the boys said they had nothing to do with it. Santos said "I'm telling the truth." Officer Arnold pulled the trigger for a second time and killed Santos... Fingerprints later recovered from the gas station did not match those of Santos or David.

This tragedy and the historic impact it had on the Hispanic community of Dallas cannot be fully described here in so few words. This is a simple dedication to the memory of a boy, his brother, and a horrific injustice. 2301 Cedar Springs rd. Dallas TX.
