Buttermilk Bluebeard and His Wives - On October 17,1944, when Alfred and Alice checked into the Scott Hotel, Alice was feeling ill. The house doctor was not too concerned about her condition. Then four days later, after a few glasses of buttermilk Alice was dead from a coronary occlusion. Alfred made arrangements for her cremation and then left for San Fransisco. The San Fransisco authorities detained him in connection with the mysterious deaths of three women. A photograph sent to Dallas confirmed that Alfred checked in to the hotel, but Alice was really Eva Krebs, a wealthy widower from Chicago.

As the investigation continued Alfred was linked to twelve deaths. Nine of them were his wives. In 1945 Alfred "Buttermilk Bluebeard" Cline was sentenced to 126 years in prison for Forgery. He died two years later in Folsom Prison. 302 S. Houston St. Dallas TX.
