Wait 30 Minutes After Eating - On the morning of May 31, 1910, Benjamin Atherton told his brother-in-law he was going dewberry hunting and then swimming at Lake Cliff Park. After stuffing himself with berries he rented a bathing suit at 12:00 and joined the crowds of people enjoying the lake. By 3:00 he had not returned his bathing suit or picked up his cloths. Inquires suggested he was last seen in the water. A search began that led to his body being found the next morning at the east end of the lake. The local press summarized that he had been seized by cramps and drowned.
