Five Bodies Excavated - On March 9,1923, construction came to a halt when the steam shovel unearthed human bones. The City Constable had the area methodically excavated and found 7 skeletons: 2 adults and 5 children. They were all buried face down with some stacked in twos. The City Constable placed the bones in cardboard boxes to be moved to the city morgue the next day. Unfortunately, the trash collector picked up the boxes thinking they were trash and took them to the city dump where they were quickly buried under piles of garbage.

Speculation is that the bodies were that of Native Americans. Dallas is located east from what was once the largest Caddo Nation in Texas.
